BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
MAGNET Beyond is about personal networks. MAGNET Beyond is an Integrated Project (IP) supported within the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) of the EU Commission (http://www.cordis.lu/fp6/whatisfp6.htm). The project acronym stands for "My personal Adaptive Global NET and Beyond". Some of the main focus areas of MAGNET Beyond are user-centricity, personalization and personal networking.
MAGNET Beyond is a worldwide R&D project within Mobile and Wireless Systems and Platforms Beyond 3G. MAGNET Beyond will introduce new technologies, systems, and applications that are at the same time user-centric and secure. MAGNET Beyond will develop user-centric business model concepts for secure Personal Networks in multi-network, multi-device, and multi-user environments. MAGNET Beyond has 30 partners from 15 countries, among these Industrial Partners, Universities, and Research Centres. MAGNET Beyond is a continuation of the MAGNET project.
The University of Cantabria (UC) is working on the development of context aware formation of Personal Network Federations with strong focus on the implementation of networking components that fulfill the designed system requirements. Additionally, the UC has a leading role on the deployment of the PN Platforms that will support the Pilot Services which are aimed to show the feasibility and usability of the system under real user conditions.
