BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
University of Cantabria has been involved in several projects within the field of fleet management. Different communication technologies have been used: GSM, PMR (MPT-1327) and Satellite (Inmarsat-C).
Satellite communications were used to carry out a project of fleet management for ships/boats. UC collaborated with Enyca in this project, which was funded by the European Commission by means of the FEDER framework. Its main goal was to develop the blue box for the boats.
Using Visual GIS OCX for visual C and GSM/GPS modules, an application to manage fleets of vehicles in Santander was developed.
Finally, within the framework of another industrial project, a demonstrator, showing the capacities of PMR based communications for fleet management services was carried out.
