BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
The work carried out by the University of Cantabria can be divided in two phases:
- Phase1: Study of the performance which can be obtained with equipments of two manufacturers, Avaya and Wilan, working cooperatively in the 2.4 GHz band. A testbed was deployed between two buildings of the University of Cantabria in order to analyse the behaviour of such equipments. Furthermore, an interference study was done when several equipments were placed in the same location.
- Phase2: Wireless IP network planning in Salvatierra. Taking into account the results obtained in the first part of the project, network architecture was planned and designed. The planning included the location of the wireless backbone network (using WILAN equipments) and the wireless IP access network (based on Avaya equipments).
University of Cantabria carried out different in situ supporting tasks during the deployment and exploitation phases, solving problems upon the were detected.
