 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

University of Cantabria was contracted by Enel Viesgo to collaborate with the deployment and exploitation of a PLC network within the Torrelavega suburban area. This pilot gave service to a maximum of 250 users.

The work carried out by the University of Cantabria in this Project is listed below:

    - Support during the network deployment phase and network management tasks. UC was in charge of detecting network failures, reporting them to Telsa.

    - Management of incidences reported by users. When a user had problems with the PLC service, he/she called to the coordination office in order to report it and automatically it was registered in a web application. UC was in charge of analyze such incidence and to contact the responsible company to sort the problem.

    - Possible causes as well as the corresponding analysis were also provided.

    - TCP/UP/IP protocol layer characterization on a PLC network over Medium and Low Voltage lines.

    - Individual and aggregate traffic analysis.
