 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

PACWOMAN aims at building up a user-centric PAN concept that will pave the way for next generation of wireless communications, dealing with the following key issues:

    - Scalability in information rates, cost and device functionalities

    - Ad Hoc IP-Based Networking, enhancing existing solutions

    - Security of user information

    - Low Power Operation: Optimising MAC/PHY layers, Power Aware Routing

Three different personal spaces translate themselves in three different networks:

    - Personal Area Network (PAN)

    - Community Area Network (CAN)

    - Wide Area Network (WAN)

Our role in the project was especially relevant in the design and corresponding implementation of the networking architecture, where we developed a routing protocol for multi-hop networks, enhanced with cross-layer optimization. Furthermore, as integration work package leaders, we coordinated the demonstration that was defended during the last technical audit of the project, held in Santander.
